As a young boy, Arthur Brassington followed his passion for baking with his father in Canada, before coming over to England, to meet his future wife Dorothy. In 1950, they opened the doors of Brassington's Bakery at 58 Brown Street in Macclesfield.

       Over 60 years later, Brassington's remains an artisan bakery that hasn’t forgotten its roots. Whilst the bakery may look a little different, our goal remains the same – to make superior breads, pies, savouries and cakes for our customers.

       Whilst still referring back to Arthur's secret recipe book, we continue to strive for excellence by focussing on the three main areas where he excelled – quality, service and strong ethical business practice.

       The human face of Brassington's today consists of a team of professional bakers, shop assistants and drivers who, along with the family, take care of the business virtually every day (and night) of the year to ensure freshly baked produce, of the highest quality, is always available.

Locally sourced produce.

We believe passionately in sourcing ingredients and services locally – and playing our part in the local community.

       For example, J. J. Heathcotes Butchers of Bollington supply us daily with all of the freshly-ground beef and pork – which is used in the making of our meat and pork pies, sausage rolls – and the ham and beef joints, which we roast off ourselves – and use in our fantastic sandwiches.

      By adopting a strong business ethic of local sourcing – we not only help support the local farming and business economy – but, by reducing transportation – reduce our own carbon footprint and help protect the environment.

      We see that as a win-win result – for everyone!
